The Stripestar attracts our attention due to its feather-shaped leaves with one eye-catching main vein. The pointy leaves can have a length of 50 centimetres. In the evening the Stripestar closes its leaves as the light fades. Stromanthe is from the Greek 'stroma' (bed) and 'anthos' (flower). The red flowers are contained in what looks like a bed at the top of the plant. The Stripestar is originally from Brazil. In its natural environment, the shrub can have a height of 2.5 metres.
We deliver the Stripestar in the 12, 19 and 21 centimetre pot sizes. In a 21-cm pot the plant can grow to more than one metre in height.
- The Stripestar may be placed in a light place, but not in direct sunlight.
- The temperature must remain between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius (59 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit).
- The plant is a thirsty one; the pot ball should not be allowed to dry up. The most important aspect, however, is watering it regularly.
- Adding plant food in the water every fortnight is very beneficial to the colour of the leaves.
