The Ornata has striking dark leaves with an exceptional vein design. The undersides of the leaves are deep purple. Calatheas are named after the Greek word for basket. The flowers (which are very slight) are arranged together resembling a basket. This type of plant is originally from Colombia and Brazil where it can grow to be up to three metres high! The leaves of this plant are used for very exclusive flower arrangements.
We deliver this plant in the 13 and 17 centimetre pot sizes.
- The Ornata loves shadow and is, therefore, suited to dark corners
- The temperature must remain between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius (59 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit).
- This plant needs to be watered regularly but not abundantly
- Adding plant food in the water every fortnight is very beneficial to the colour of the leaves.
